Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly Africa’s most famous park in Tanzania and Africa. You might have heard of it or watched a movie shot in it. This beautiful park is famed for its diverse wildlife, vast plains, and the Great Migration.
Camping in the Serengeti provides an unforgettable experience for visitors. It allows them to immerse themselves in nature and observe wildlife. There are two types of campsites available: public campsites and special campsites. Public campsites are accessible to everyone and are equipped with basic amenities such as toilets (typically pit latrines), bathrooms, and a kitchen. These sites are managed by the park authorities (TANAPA) and are ideal for travelers on a budget. In contrast, special campsites are specific areas designated for campers to pitch their tents. These sites lack permanent facilities like toilets, requiring travellers to bring their own equipment and supplies. Therefore, they are well-suited for self-drive safaris. Additionally, some Safari lodge accommodations offer to provide camping gear for their clients, but its not a guarantee.
There are special campsites in the Serengeti where one can choose to spend nights. These include public campsites and Special campsites. Apart from camping, guests are required to pay other fees as well. For instance, the conservation fee is mandatory for visitors visiting the park.
